Satpura National Park and its surrounding buffer zone are bestowed with a huge and diversified population of wildlife species that are rarely sighted in the other national parks of India. With uniqueness in its ecosystem and a long history of wildlife conservation, the forests of Satpura National Park comprise a list of wildlife species that are seen here offering a stupendous jungle treat for wildlife enthusiasts.

With a diverse range of flagship species, Satpura National Park is home to 50 mammal species among which 14 are endangered mammal and reptile species, and over 52 Royal Bengal Tigers which draws the attention of thousands of wildlife enthusiasts for an exciting jungle safari. A Wide assortment of animals, birds, reptiles, and insects can be found in Satpura National Park comprising a high diversity of animal life with about 254 bird species, 30 reptile species, and more than 50 species of beautiful butterflies. 

Varied species of colourful birds include the Malabar Whistling Thrush, Honey Buzzard, Paradise Flycatcher, Malabar Pied Hornbill, etc. are present in large numbers.

Due to the presence of a wide variety of flowers and moist climatic conditions, the reserve is an ideal place for butterfly species as well, like Blue Pancy, Black Rajah, Great Eggfly, Oakleaf, etc.

Along with the butterflies and bird species, there are various other fauna species as well which includes the Sloth Bear, Tiger, Leopard, Indian Bison (Gaur), Spotted Deer, Wild Boar, Black Buck, Wild Doge (Dholes), Sambar, Pangolin, Porcupine, Marsh Crocodile, Barasingha, Four-Horned Antelope (Chausingha), Langurs, etc.

One of the special features of the Satpura National Park is the Indian Giant Squirrel as it is very to find in India now. In addition to this, some of the species which are endemic species to Central India like the Flying Squirrel and Rhesus Monkey are also found here.
